I am a female Black Lab. I live with my parents, my 8 year old sister who I adore, a 5 month old female kitten, my Papa and his female Golden Retriever and my older brother who is a Chocolate Lab. We are a big family and I love it. However, here is the issue....read more Every time someone is in the kitchen cooking, or someone removes a wrapper from something (food or otherwise), or someone is eating, my brother, the Chocolate Lab, just goes berserk! I mean he barks, drools all over the place, wiggles uncontrollably, is constantly under my dad's feet as he cooks and he is even tall enough to rest his head on the kitchen table. My family can't cook or eat in peace. I, on the other hand, just sit and stare quietly, patiently waiting; always hoping he will follow my lead. How can I get him to calm down when food is around and not act like he has never eaten a day in his life?

Gracie, is this you? This sounds an awful lot like my house. As I was reading, all I could think about were the sights and smells of food and my paws began to quiver and... Oops, did I just admit that? I digress. Anyhoo, the next time I, ahem, I mean your brother begins to act like a food hound just ignore it. Because, honestly, I AM!!! Wait, was that a wrapper.....
