Paw Parents,
Desperate Paws of Orange County
Dog Club just recently celebrated its 3rd anniversary on January 6th. It’s hard to imagine, but just three years
ago, we sat down and said, “There needs to be more dogs getting out of the
house with their families and having fun together.” Thus, D.P.O.C. Dog Club was
born.
Since then, there have been 60
activities and events the Dog Club has organized and hosted as well as another
30 events and activities we have attended together as a group. The Dog Club has grown to over 1,370 members
here in Southern California and still growing today. We’ve been very fortunate to gain the respect
and trust of the dog community, local businesses, city governments, county
agencies and other organizations which have aided in making the Dog Club’s
mission a reality.
What we’re most proud of is the
Dog Club’s Paw It Forward Campaign. We
believed strongly, right from the start, that we had to make a difference. Of course, we wanted everyone to have fun
with their dogs, but we also knew that as an organization we have a
responsibility to give back to our own community of needy dogs. To date, the Paw It Forward Campaign has
helped fund 4 Adoption Events at O.C. Animal Care, placing almost 200 dogs,
cats and one rabbit into New Forever Homes. These dogs, cats and rabbit would
have been euthanized at our county shelter for lack of funding and space. We’ve made strides in making Adoption an
Option as it truly does Save Lives.
In March of 2011, the Paw It Forward Campaign took on the Southern California Pet Relief Effort for Japan, following their disasters. It was one of the worst natural disasters the world has ever seen. Earthquakes, Tsunami and radiation fall out from a nuclear power plant reactor, all happening simultaneously and impacting millions of people and their pets. This Relief combined the assistance of local businesses, organizations and an entire community of pet loving people who came together to donate, collect and sort through the nearly 47,000 pounds
of food, blankets and veterinary supplies that helped support World Vets
International and their efforts in aiding the pets of Japan
on the front lines.
Whether it’s the look of joy on
the faces of Parents and the wagging tails of their Paws when they attend an
event, or seeing firsthand the excitement and appreciation of a needy shelter Paw
whose been given a second chance with a new forever home afforded to him
through an adoption event funded by Your donations to the Paw It Forward
Campaign, we’re able to recognize that we All are on the right path. For, without
the continued support of You, the Paw Parents, who come to events and Paw It
Forward, none of this would have been possible! So, we Thank You and as this journey
isn’t complete, let us not rest on our laurels but instead pull from those
successes and keep moving forward.
2013 promises to be a very
exciting year. Dog Day Afternoon is back this June, Howling Halloween in the
Park is back and growing this October. We’re
also adding new and interesting
activities and events as well as keeping many of the favorites. We’ll be reaching out to new Paw Parents and
bringing the mission of the Dog Club and the scope of the Paw It Forward
Campaign to their communities. With your continued support and the support
of local businesses, governments and organizations, we see a very bright future
ahead, which benefits all Paw Parents and their Paws.
Sincerely,
Stephen & Brandi Terry
